this item was a gift to my boyfriend for valentines day and it only worked for ten minutes "how embarrassing" i want to know how i could get another one to be sent or my money back!
It is winter and the Midwest so the wax was intact and the fluid was clear. I read the instructions so I don't move it when it is hot to avoid having the wax break up. Works just like it should. I and my son are happy with it.
This is a good light, works well and came in sufficient packaging that made me feel comfortable that it wasn't too shaken up in the shipping. The light is bright and heats the "lava" within an hour or so.
Picture shows clear liquid, however after a month of use, the liquid is cloudy and looks like your looking at something in a dense fog. The mfg did not respond to inquiries.
My daughter needed a new nightlight, and this was perfect. She loves this over having a regular light on. The "Lava" takes about 1 hour to get moving, then it's very peaceful to watch.
Great lamp. I bought the red/yellow one. I was born too late for the late 60's early 70's experience but I love the music and most of the culture. This thing really does set a tone, and a pleasant one.It is a bit smaller looking than what I expected. Not a scam though, description tells the size and it is accurate. Not a problem considering the price: <14$ to my door w prime. I just remembered seeing an original that was about 2-3ft tall 8" at the base. Takes a few minutes to warm up. This is the second one I purchased the first was a gift that was so well liked I got one. Glass does get a bit warm not hot as in fire hazard hot. Just like a handling a light bulb right after turning it off and not that hot either. You know it uses heat to move the lava? And some people complain. Btw water is wet.Slick packaging in a tube with styro inserts that is compact and and efficient. Not for true lighting of course but with the lights off or a dim corner it really does look good, or even in daylight. Running pretty steady for a couple months and no issues, replacement bulbs are available, cheap, and probably needed for the size and heat output to work but if it fails I might try a different bulb if I don't get one for backup.**I discovered what might be causing some people problems, moving the lamp when hot. Was moving mine and bumped it and I saw a globule break up a bit with a few tiny ones forming. I would suggest to not move it at all when warmed up. Great purchase that is what they say at a very good price. This is a really good value, same price as other cheap regular old lamps. Makes a really good gift.## I just knocked this off the table yesterday and it withstood a 4 ft drop to the floor. I really expected disaster. The lava container is glass with a metal bottlecap sealing the end. Tough design. Glad it wasn't warmed up to scramble the globules. Rugged construction.
