   Wow, this is a large generator, 29"W x 28"H x 30"L with wheel kit installed. The unit looks just as pictured. Very happy with the shipping, unit was delivered by ABF without a scratch. They had a lift gate and a cart to move the unit right up into the garage. First order of business was to place the wheels on the unit, this proved to be simpler then I originally thought. I cut the box off of the unit and tilted the unit up on it's side and placed the wheels on with the provide brackets and bolts. I had the unit ready for gas in about 30 minutes of delivery. Oh, but not so fast, I had other work that was required before I would put this baby to the test. My next purchase from Amazon was the GenTran 301660 30 Amp 6-Circuit Transfer Switch for up to 7,500-Watt Generators. Well, I just finished the connection of this unit to my home. It proved to be simple, but if you have no electrical experience I would recommend you get a professional electrician, balancing the loads is important and may be beyond the normal do-it yourselfer. So today I fired this baby up. I added oil and a little gas and flipped the switch and within 2 cranks this unit was running. I let the unit stablize for about 5 minutes and then I connected my 30 AMP cord to the Transfer Switch and turned on the breaker and transferred my home circuits to the unit. I noticed that my A-Phase was pulling about 3750 Watts and B-Phase about 750 watts. I was confused on what was going on because I was sure that I had balanced my loads. After further investigation I realized that my wife had the washing machine going, although the unit was operating with this large difference on the phases it was holding the load just fine! The rest of the house lit up just as if we had never lost power. I ran the unit for another 15 minutes and turned off the loads. I then turned off the fuel valve and allowed the generator to run out the fuel in the bowl and line. I use STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer in my tank so I'm hoping it's good for a year. Well, this baby seems to work perfectly, the real test will be when we have one of those ice storms or those hurricanes that we here in Virginia always look forward too. Now I need to look into stockpiling some gas. :)I noticed that in another review on this unit that there was a complaint on the location of the pull cord. I took a note from reviews of the smaller unit and drilled a hole in the frame located directly in line with the pull cord and fed the cord through there and placed a grommet in the hole. Works superb, best $.50 I ever spent. My cord is now located right below the on/off switch.    I had not previously heard of this brand, but Amazon's great price made it hard to pass up. I purchased this generator for home emergency purposes. I Ordered it on Sunday night and received it on the following Thursday. There was no visual damage to the box that would indicate rough handling by the shipper. However, upon removing the generator from the box there was minor damage to a couple of items (nothing that would prevent operation). I called the manufacturer and the representative politely agreed to replace the items.The generator does not come with a battery for the electric starter. The manufacturer's representative stated that it required an Everstart ES12N94B1 battery, which I found at Wal-mart. After adding oil and a little gas the generator started right up with only three easy pulls (I had not installed the battery at that point). The generator started so easy, in fact, that I am considering taking the battery back and not using the electric starter.    Live in Clear Lake City ( between Galveston and Houston)and Ike( the Hurricane) took the power away on Friday Morning around 1:30 AM. Once the wind was down and my neighbors could get out into the weather without worring about projectiles, they got out the new generator, added the oil and gasoline. On the third pull it started. It has run 7 days without stopping, well shutting it down to to fill it up with gasoline. What was good about this model is that it has 4 ea. 120 outlets, and I was able to share with a neighbor. Also, was suprized that it was running over 10 hours before having to refill the tank. The only problem that I had is the generator just shut OFF own it's own several times with plenty of gasoline. Only took one pull to start it back up, after turning OFF the breaker and the KEY. Loaning it out to a friend that still does not have a generator. Have three neighbor that are going to look into getting them one. Also, they like the deal that I got with Amazon.com. It is not on right now.    This is a great generator for the price. I was a little skepticle of buying a foreign generator but I gave it a shot after reading the reviews.I am very impressed with the quality of this generator for the price. [...] with free shipping. Can't beat that for this size generator.Steel gas tank not plastic.Rugged frame and non flat wheelsAssembly was simple.Installed the battery terminals. The positive connects to the unprotected nut on the starter seliniod directly behind the nut with the rubber boot.I bought a battery at walmart Everstart ES12N94B1. Filled with 33oz oil. Put fresh gas in the unit with stabilizer.Turned on the fuel petcock chocked the carburator and started right up. after a minute pushed chock in and the motor ran geat.The best feature that I like is the Auto Throttle (Only found on expensive generator). It idles the engine at a low quite idle when the demand on the generator is low this saves gas. Engine noise is not bad under loaded conditions.Also the customer service is geat at Eastern Tools Inc Ohio. I would like to say that this chinese generator with a Lifan engine is a great generator for the price.It is manufactured by chongqing-am-pride power machinery division.    I'm 54 and have been around mechanical equipment all my life. First impression of this generator, which is made in China, is the quality of the components and construction are equal to anything I've seen. Assembly of the wheel/axle and handle is very easy. You do need to put the axle/wheels on BEFORE putting in any oil and gas as you have to stand the generator on end to be able to assemble. I cut the box vertically on all four corners when opening and laid down all four sides. This created a cushion and non-scuff surface when standing the generator on end. It is heavy enough (216lbs) that having a second person to help stand it on end is a benefit.I followed the instruction and check points. Put in oil and a little gas, ran a 12AWG ground wire from the ground post on the generator to a copper ground rod, turned on the fuel valve, opened the choke and pulled the starter handle. It was running before I even completed the first pull!! I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the positioning from the factory of the pull handle is a little awkward but this thing started SO EASY that I consider this a non-issue. I bought an Everstart battery from Walmart ($30) but have elected to not activate nor install it in the generator at this time. I starts so easy with the pull rope that the battery seem almost a waste but I guess in an extended power outage where you're refilling the tank multiple times and re-starting, the electric start will be convenient.I don't have a DB meter so I can't confirm whether it meets the advertised noise level of 70 DB at 7 meters, but I walked in my house while it was running and I couldn't hear it. I suspect that in the middle of the night with no appliances running in the house you'd be able to hear it, but it wouldn't be much. Standing within 10 ft. of it, you can easily carry on a conversation but it is a generator and it makes noise.I ran a short test by plugging in a 110V window AC unit I have in my garage using a heavy duty extension cable. As expected it ran perfectly but this small AC is not much of a test for a 7,000 watt generator. I have wired a 240V plug/transfer switch to my main breaker and my intent is to power my whole house (selective circuits only, obviously) so I don't have to deal with extension cords. I wish I had an oscilloscope to be able to check ETQ's advertised <%5 total harmonic distortion, but I don't. The test will come IF I decide to try and run my PowerMac during an outage.The unit has an Auto Idle on/off switch. I was hoping that this feature would vary the engine speed based on electrical load but after thinking about it, that's probably not possible. What it does do however is if the generator has NO load (i.e., zero watts), it will slow the engine to an idle which will likely save considerable fuel. I'm not sure the benefit of this feature on a unit this size because anyone buying one this big is probably going to run more than simply a refrigerator/freezer which does cycle on and off. I bought this size generator because I have a heavy duty 240V grinder pump in my lift station (sewer) and I want to be able to run it simultaneously with other things. Fan's lights, small TV, coffee maker occasionally, etc. For me, I can't see a even moment when there would be no load on the generator.It has a built in hour meter, a fuel gauge on the gas tank and even came with a small toolkit (for assembly) and a specialized bracket for lifting the generator with a crane, cherry picker, etc.I did a fair amount of research before electing to buy this unit but for $649 plus local tax, if it provides years of service which I feel it will, this was an incredible price for this size generator. I didn't buy it through Amazon only because I ended up finding it at a local Northern Tools + Equipment and surprisingly for a better deal.As you can imagine from my review, my first impression is a first class product in construction and components and you can't begin to find any other brand 7,250 watt generator (8,250 surge) for this price.

   I purchased this generator as a replacement for an older 5KW Coleman. I have a backup inverter arrangement to run our house during power outages (10 select circuits) and use the generator to charge the batteries. This system was installed 10 years ago because of regular outages (sometimes 6 days) in our rural community. We are on well water so it became a necessity to have power backup.A couple months ago we had a branch transformer fault. I did not anticipate that we would have a surge on the neutral/ground leg and lost my battery monitoring system and also later would find out that I had suffered battery damage to one of the eight in my system. Two weeks ago we had an outage and I found that the damaged battery had pulled all of the batteries down. I started up the generator and it failed after a couple of minutes. I maintained the generator every other month but had not noticed the hoses were beginning to rot from age. After repairs I did get it to run.I decided to get a new generator (mothball the old one) and began searching for something that could handle the inrush on my 3/4hp water well in case of battery problems.The reviews here were very helpful. I never heard of the model before, but the specs were excellent for the price. I ordered the ETQ 8250 watt generator and used the super saver shipping. I was called by the shipper to set up delivery after the holiday weekend. The driver was unable to take his rig up our driveway (350ft 17 degree grade), but helped me load and unload the box in the back of my Forester. The two of us had no problems.I followed what others had suggested and cut the box down in the driveway. The box provided adequate padding while I assembled the unit. All the parts were present including most of the tools. I found that my own metric socket set was better for the job. As others commented I was surprised to find the "conveyance suspend" tool for hoisting the unit. Finally, there was about 30 minutes of assembly time. The battery (purchased previously from the reviews) took a little longer. The unit was in pristine condition with no problems when delivered.I filled the fluids and let it sit for five minutes. The generator started up by battery in about five seconds and ran very smoothly. The idle control is a nice addition and will come in handy when charging the batteries, however the voltage is too low (85/170) to really cold start any loads. The pull start is in a very bad position. As others suggested I may move it one screw round.The noise is 85 Decibels on idle control adjacent to the generator and 93 under load. At 20 feet under load it measured 85. This generator is much quieter than the previous one and should not disturb any of our distant neighbors. As others suggested you could carry on a conversation at about ten feet.The voltages on the 240 plug measured 123 each for a total of 246 volts. For my purposes, my charging circuit to the transfer switch is about 95 feet away. This should adequately cover any voltage drop in that long circuit. I have not yet measured it under load.So far I am very happy with the unit and appears to be the best generator for the price available at this time. The battery start will come in useful for my family if there is an extended outage while I'm away. The pull start is the only negative I can see at this time and is something that ETQ should address. I would recommend this generator for those that need backup emergency power.I do intend to install a whole house service entrance transfer switch in the near future (these things cost more than the generator), and will maintain the battery configuration for the ten critical circuits. It will be interesting to see if the ETQ can handle the inrush on the 30A/240V central air circuit while the batteries power the furnace blower.    The generator after hooking it up will not power my forced air furnace the furnace's self diagnostic led blinks indicating a problem, further tests show the generator puts out 65 HZ not the 60HZ is states in the manual. I surely would not power up any computers or other sensitive devices to this generator and I am glad I did not. So be aware of this before you use this to power any thing that needs precise 60 HZ power or you may have a paper weight. I purchased a meter [...] called a Kill A Watt EZ from home depot for 25 dollars it reads out Watts, Volts. Cost to run device and most important the frequency of the output which mine was 65HZ to high to run most electronics can ruin them and some motors won't take that either the voltage isn't as important most things will run from 108 to 130 volts depending on device. Check the frequency if it is more then 63 HZ then get it fixed or see below. They are sending a new AVR Automatic Voltage Regulator out for me to install and the boss claimed will fix the freq problem but one tech said it was governor speed. I did not want to drive that far to the repair place lugging that 275 pound load with me and the meter for checking the 60HZ freq they will not reimburse me for but a good item to have with any generator. More to come when I get the AVR and put it in and retest. UPDATE: The new AVR came in I installed it and it did that same thing almost so I tried the governor speed and it started to drop got it at 60hz now it will vary a bit with load but well within specs now. To set the frequency look above the choke lever you'll see a screw with a spring on it with a jamb nut on the back the screw contacts a tab, loosen the nut adjust the screw with gen running and a small load it watch the kill a watt meter and stop when the freq is at 60 or as close as you can get to that then tighten jamb nut.    I searched for a couple of weeks before deciding on the generator and I have no regrets about buying it. I have owned this generator since August 2009. I moved into a house with a generator panel already installed and no alternative source of heat (no chimney) and this was a no brainer. I have used this several times during outages and it starts the first pull every time. The voltage is rock solid and I have run our media center computer and 42 plasma, furnace, garage-door, microwave, kitchen fridge, and garage freezer with no problems. (All while the neighbors stumble around in the dark!) I even let the neigbors run some cords over for their freezers.The noise level is acceptable/expected for this type of generator. I am going to build an enclosure for it this summer to reduce noise further.Keep in mide if you want this generator to last you must:Use fresh gas with a fuel stabilizer! Gas turns to varnish in 3 months!Use the stabilized gas in 9-12 months or drain it out and replace it with fresh, stabilized gas!Take this baby out and run it for 10 minutes at least once every two weeks!Change the oil out after the first 10 hours of operation.This will keep you starting the first time, every time.

   Just received this yesterday shipped via CEVA which I had no complaints with. Took about 30 min. to put together. My pannel looks some what different then whats on the web site. I have a key to turn it on instead of a toggle switch. Also where you see a auto throttle toggle, I have a 12V socket. Must be because they (ETQ) just made the auto throttle automatic because I don't know why you would ever want to turn that off anyway. The 13HP verses 14HP doesn't bother me a bit. You'll save on fuel. I am going to the hardware store to get a grommet for the pull cord. That was a great idea. I also couldn't figure out what the miniture looking coat hanger was for. Then it hit me. It goes between the bars on top of the unit so you can lift it up in a truck with a portable crain if you wish. Good luck trying to manual lift in your truck. Better have two big men and a boy. Didn't have time to fuel and oil up but will try and do it today. This generator is made very well. I looked at the Briggs and Stratton over at our local huge hardware store that was a 5500W and they wanted 799.99 + Tax. There is a huge difference in the way they are built. The Briggs just looked cheap with thin 1" square frameing and with the cheap plastic lawn mower wheels. Im telling you this TG8250 is a beast. Im so glad I decided to wait and get this one instead of the Briggs. I lost power Sept 14 here in Fairborn Ohio because of remnents of Ike with 35-80 mph winds for 5 days and 5 hours. 300,000 lost power. Im never going through that crap again. It took about 30-45 minutes to assemble thewheels and etc.I am very impressed with the quality and ease of assembly.I have had numerous standby generators and this one ranks very high asfar as quality.
