This is a quality soap pump that was the recommended one for the Kohler faucet I had previously purchased. Looks great, has weight and smooth operation. All plastic parts are thick/solid and well finished.I expect many years of problem free service. Good size soap resevoir.
I love having the in-sink pump for dish detergent - it gives me that much less clutter on my sink. And, it refills from above, so all the more easier...
I bought two of these for my two kitchen sinks. One works fine. The other has been a problem from the beginning. It didn't sit right on the sink and so the pump didn't work well. When my husband went to take it apart and re-do it, the neck snapped off. A waste of money. Can't believe I had to order another one. I ordered a much less expensive one - since this one was made cheaply even though it was fairly expensive for a soap dispenser.
I installed this into a Kohler Vault single-basin sink with a Grohe Ladylux3 faucet. It matches those perfectly.Installation was a piece of cake, with the exception of some low brainpower on my part. (hint: you should probably screw in the bottle before you decide to fill it up, otherwise you may end up with a big pool of dishwashing detergent to clean up beneath your sink <G> )In use, it feels quite robust and heavy, which hopefully translates into well-manufactured internals which would last a long time.
Not only does this take away one more thing from your sink counter, but you can fill a lot more soap in it then the average dispenser. It is easy to fill, looks great and I am really happy with it. Of course I have only had it for two months, but I have to say it works great.06/07/10 update: Still think this is great. Sometimes I overfill it, but oh well, still worth it!
This is a very expensive soap dispenser and it worked for only 1 year. It will not pump any liquid soap. I have tried everything to fix it and nothing comes out. I am going to try to return it, but expect problems with that. The following number of the one from Lowe's also does not work..Plumb Pak Brushed Nickel Soap or Lotion Dispenser Item #: 196774 | Model #: K612DSBN . I have two of these and they will not pump liquid soap either. The reviews of it at Lowe's are exactly what has happened to me. Do NOT buy either one of these products.
We have had 5 of these for a little over a year. When they were about 6 months old, the soap starting smelling like metal and had a greenish tint to it. I have different soaps in each one and they all are acting the same way but the orange Dial soap is the least affected. Other soaps include SoftSoap and Bath & Body Works anti-bacterial gel soaps. The dispensers function well in that soap comes out nicely, but the metal smell is a real turn off and now I have bottles of soap next to each sink, which defeats the purpose of having in counter dispensers. The plumber said that it's the fragrance in the soaps that corrodes the metal and yields the metal smell. He said some manufacturers have started lining the "sleeve" with plastic to prevent this but he couldn't remember which brands. I have a friend with an expensive Grohe dispenser and hers did the same thing. Since they are relatively inexpensive, I have started replacing them with a different model with hopes that we don't encounter the metallic smell again.
We purchased this dispenser to match our KWC faucet during our recent kitchen remodel. We received the order promptly. This exceeded my expectations as far as the look and the ease of installation. So far (it's been about a month in use now) it works great. I like that it dispenses soap from an unseen hole somewhere on the bottom of the arm instead of the tip so the dispenser always looks clean. It's not the cheapest model but for me represents a good value.
I replaced a Grohe part with this. The Grohe was expensive and yet it kept falling apart. Every time it fell apart it dumped the entire soap contents under the sink: not nice.The Kohler is affordable, attractive, easy and quick to install. Simple to fill and use. This is a keeper.
This dispenser is top quality and is very attractive. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that Kohler has over priced this tremendously. You can't find them in the "vibrant stainless" for less than $50-60 and that is way too much for a little metal dispenser. Especially since a couple of the other colors can be found at Home Depot for around $40. I bought it because I already had the faucet and no other dispensers match this color.
