Panasonic FV-11VFL2 WhisperFit-Lite 110 CFM Low Profile Ceiling Mounted Fan with Light Reviews

    1. I've seen reviews where people were talking about how you nearly have to be a rocket scientist in order to install this fan.I don't agree. My existing bathroom ceiling is plaster. It's old, it's hard. The Broan fan that was in there before was loud and didn't work very well. Plus, it used a 100 watt bulb. This unit's main box/encasement is larger than the Broan. That was very good because i had to make the hole in the ceiling a bit larger just to get the old out. I was SOOO worried i would have to get a real carpenter in here to fix things. But nope... even though i had cut out a patch nearly 1 inch all the way around the old fan... it was still a hair too narrow for this Panasonic fan. I was thrilled!I expanded my cut-in hole by another 1/2", connected my 4" flexible exhaust run and the electric connection. Some complained that the electrical connection is super hard to figure out. IT's NOT.You have a set of wires (black/white) for each of the 2 bulbs, 1 for the 24/7 night light and 1 for the fan itself. In an existing bathroom... you're probably fairly limited with what you can do.In new construction... it's simply a dual switch... one for the main bulbs and one for the fan.Anyhow... the enclosure where the electrical connections are made is SUPER TIGHT. There is barely room to make the connections with small wire nuts. So, keep your wires short!But... i was able to get the electric and exhaust connnected to the fan and then i put the fan up in the ceiling.Fortunately for me, i did not need the mounting brackets that came with the fan because my cut-in was 1/4" off of a ceiling joist which i screwed to via 2 1/2" drywall screws. I then used a small piece of a metal flat 2 hole bracket for the other side of the fan.I was worried that it may stick out once i put the fan cover on, but i was very happy again! The white cover was large enough that it covered my little bracket as well as the little extra width in the cut-in hole in the ceiling. So... i could have made the hole even bigger had i needed to. I'm very happy about that.Ok... so now all is installed and HOLY COW... you need sunglasses once both lamps are installed! WHOW! you get 2 bults 14 (maybe 18) watts... and WHOW.... it's bright.I took one out to save for a rainy day... and even with only 1 bulb, i'm totally impressed with how bright this light is! Very pleased. The fan too... super quiet when compared to the old fan. I just could not be happier with this particular bath fan/light.Demo'ing the old fan, case, etc... took like 90 minutes for me. Installing the new, making the electrical and exhaust connections... 30 minutes. Total time... 2 hrs.Would have been 2/3's less in new construction but that was not an option.Ok... hope this review is helpful, even though it's lengthy.T

    2. This product, a combination light and ceiling exhaust fan is installed in my bathroom. It is attractive, quiet and efficient and I would highly recommend it. The only surprise I encountered was that the fan flange must be installed BETWEEN the ceiling joist and the ceiling wall board attached to that joist. (minor problem).

    3. I purchased 2 of these fans to retrofit 2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor of my house - from a different vendor. One went into a regular size master bath and the other into your standard guest bathroom (both with 8 foot ceilngs). I was trying to go for maximum CFM for these 2 baths, but in hindsight, I probably didn't need so high of a CFM and could have done with the FV-08VFL2 model instead. And both baths would have been much quieter - even though these are still not very loud (everything is relative). These fans are so effective, I haven't seen ANY steam accumulate on the mirrors NO MATTER HOW HOT A SHOWER I TAKE.These are HUGE improvements over what was originally installed - cheapy contractor specials that weren't even as nice as Home Depot Nutones. I wound up not having had to climb into the attic at all. If you're experienced and know what you're doing, you'll have an easy time installing these because EVERYTHING is modular and makes for easy installation. The side manifold with ducting and electrical connections can be connected and screwed into the joist sepearately. I wound up using the included 4" to 3" adapter. If you used the provided template to cut the hole to necessary size (used blue tape to mark the ceiling), then you can just easily slide the fan housing into place and screw it in into the ceiling against the housing's flange/lip. Install the light module and bulbs, then the shroud, and you're good to go! Each job took no more than 2 hours (with breaks).[...]You won't get any order acknowledgement and their customer service is friendly, if just a little slow/lacking. I will be buying 5 more fans from them in the next month.Hope this helps you.

    4. This is a great fan, i mean, i stopped by home depot to check out what my options were and i really was not impressed with the options. My electrician told me about this particular model, and it really turned out to be a real impressive solution for me.

    5. I bought the 80 cfm version of this unit to replace a 50 cfm bath fan/light that failed. I have a vintage home (translation- old with lathe and plaster walls/ ceilings) so I was a bit concerned about the installation. It was an excellent purchase. The installation was very straightforward. For part, you do need to access the unit from above. In my case, that meant wiggling into an attic space- snug but OK-- to remove the old unit. I enlarged the ceiling hole from below, installed the unit from below, and then only had to get in the attic one more time to screw in the additional supports, finish the wiring and attach the air outlet to the flex hose. This unit is extremely quiet. Yes, you can still hear it. But I have to agree with other reviewers that sometimes you forget that it is on because the sound is so subtle. It completely removes the steam/water vapor from my 10 x 12 bathroom. The bathroom mirror is not at all steamed after a shower-- a great improvement. I give this 5 stars.ps. Since I only had one wired drop, I wired the main light and the fan together so that a single switch turns both on. I left out the nightlight. This works fine for me, but if at some point I need to open the wall, I will add another set of switches so that I can have one each for the fan, light and nightlight.

    6. Just finished a complete bath remodel in my house and replaced the old noisy (original) bath fan with the Panasonic FV-08VFL2 WhisperFit-Lite 80 CFM Low Profile Ceiling Mounted Fan with Light. Other than having to add additional wiring for the night light (I combined the fan and the main light on a common switch for simplicity), installation was easy. Amazed at how quiet the fan is. No, REALLY amazed. I've never heard a bath fan so quiet. I could leave it running all day and no one would notice (good way to exchange the air in the house).Anyway, the fan came from a sub of Amazon (Price Pros) and I ordered it regular shipping for free. They said 5 to 7 days for delivery...or it could have been as many as 10 days, can't remember for sure. Anyway, it was on my doorstep in two days. I was shocked. And I GUESS it was a good thing, albeit since pressure from my better half now forced me to start the bathroom remodel right away rather than a week later, which being the lazy retired person that I am, I hadn't quite gotten psyched-up to do.So bottom line. Great fan/light. Quick shipping. Good experience. Thanks,John LewisSanta Rosa

    7. i'm really happy that this ended up being a good investment. i was searching for a quality fan to use in a small bathroom/shower area. i was concerned that due to the small space, the fan might end up reverberating, being loud - as some other reviews mentioned with panasonic in similar sizes. that was not the case. it was an easy install... it's powerful yet purrs very quietly and the light is nice and bright, yet soft and well distributed. i did not hook up the nightlight. excellent shipping took about 72 hours from time of order to actual delivery.
