This is a great way to connect your dryer vent to the outside, but be aware that the vent tubing, though shown in the photo here, is not included. You will receive the only two plastic flanges.
The vent connection makes for a neater and closer installation. It also eliminates the possibility of the connection inside the wall from pushing thru and possibly making it hard to retrieve. If the tabs break just get screws made to go into plastic and modify it.
This product makes a neat and secure seal eliminating lint dust and exhaust from leaking into the laundry room.
I installed a new dryer vent at about waist height instead of near the floor. This quick disconnect allowed me to use a much shorter vent hose because I could now push the dryer in most of the way to it's final position and then reach back and quickly connect without screwdrivers and bad language. Made out of heavy plastic. Slightly larger diameter on wall flange would be nice and depth on hose flange. I had to cut an oversize whole due to tools available and wider flange would have helped.
Our dryer hose just went through the drywall and looked "unfinished". The metal pipe could move in and out as well. This gave the pipe a more professional finished looking connection and stopped the pipe from sliding around in and out of the wall. It was very easy to install too. You just need soem tin snips or real good scissors. Tin snips work better.
I recently connected this attachment to my dryer vent hose and its exhaust duct. Making the connection is a snap, although you'll want to research drilling and screwing into concrete or cinder block if that's your situation.What is nice about this quick connect attachment is that, without unscrewing any duct clamps, you can easily disconnect the dryer vent from the wall to remove any accumulated lint. The way my dryer vent is situated, a lot of lint accumulates at the junction of the hose from the dryer and the vent pipe in the wall. Cleaning this junction is now a breeze, which means I'll do it more - that in turn means that I'll be operating my dryer more safely.As a quick side note - I highly recomment pairing vent clamps with thumb screws as an additional convenience. Adjusting vent clamps with a screwdriver can be maddeningly difficult, especially if the ducting is hard to reach. The only improvement that could be made in this product would be if they could add a self-clamping flange to the inside half, so you didn't need to mess around with vent clamps at all. Getting that clamp snuggly on the first time can still be a pain, but at least once you install this quick connect you'll only have to do it once.
This gadget it great! My dryer used to vent though the attic, then out, but it was plastic duct, so mice would make holes, and I'd have to haul the dryer out, undo the hose from the back and rescue them. Needing to replace this system, I decided to board up the hole in the ceiling, have a piece of luan cut to fit my bathroom window, with a 4" circle cut out of it. I bought a length of metal duct hose and this neat dryer dock, installing it's components on the wood piece and the end of the duct hose. Now, I just insert the wood into the window, lock my dryer hose/duct into it and, Ta-Da!, it's vented outside. When I'm done, I only have to do the reverse. No more mice rescues and, in the winter, I can even put a nylon stocking over the end of the hose and let it vent inside the house for some moist heat. This dryer dock has made things very versatile for me.
This is a slick product. We've had trouble with the hose sliding off the vent pipe, so this is a great idea. A couple warnings though:1) The plastic connectors are both male fittings. If the pipe in your wall is also a male fitting, the plastic coupler will not slide into it, even after you prepared it as in the instructions. And once you've cut it as instructed, it is compromised--and inside the wall. I straightened out the tabs I cut in the pipe and used aluminum duct tape to attach the platic fitting to the pipe in the wall. I'm hoping the adhesive on the tape will hold up under the heat. Otherwise I will need to cut a larger hole in the wall to replace the elbow that I damaged preparing it for the DryerDock fitting.2) You rotate the two pieces together to attach. There's not a lot of friction holding them in place (they don't truely "lock"). If there's much spring force to twist them back counter-clockwise, they will come apart. I'm planning to drill a hole through the two to insert a pin & thus lock them in place.Docking (no pun intended) one star because the instructions could have warned about pipe fitting incompatibilities & the locking mechanism could be better.All that being said, I'm planning on buying a second DryerDock to put on the dryer side of the hose, as the hose tends to slide off there too. The dryer side connector also looks to be male, so I'm going to check at a hardware store for a short slip fitting to join the two male ends.
I am extremely satisfied and recommend this product wholeheartedly. My dryer installation is now neater and easy to vac-roto-brush with the Lint Eater by Gardus kit also sold on Amazon!-Happy Customer
The Dryer Dock is a good product. The only complaint I have is that each time I tried to move the dryer back against the wall, the hose would turn and unlock from the wall. I finally decided to use duct tape to secure the pieces together. This product could be improved with a better locking system.
