Little Giant 10410B Safety Stepladder with Bar and Tray, 4-Step Reviews
The little giant ladders are great. This step stool with the extra wide steps makes a excellant stool to stand on for long periods of time.It is a little heavy but the wheels make it easy to move around as long as it is in the step mode. When it is folded you have to pick it up. Wheel would be nice on both ends.Only problem was the small tray but I make my own large tray. With a 6 footer person on the top rung the head is it 10 feet.Best ladder I own and I would buy another little giant again
I am a photographer who has been using these ladders for years. They have always had weak spots which contributed to them collapsing after a few years. The reason I keep buying them is they have generously sized steps which make standing on them much more comfortable. I ordered a new one last week to replace a broken one. It appears that several of the weak spots have been re-engineered and I look forward to hopefully not having this one collapse on me. The biggest problem I have with the new one is that the re-engineered clips which must be squeezed in order to put down the handle are extremely hard to squeeze, and the pins which must go into a hole to keep the handle up do not line up very well. In other words,it was almost impossible to put the handle down once it was up. I called Amazon and they immediately sent me a new one. The new one is a little better, but not good. Hopefully the company will work on a better solution for the future.
Wing Little Jumbo Safety Ladder with Bar and TrayPros:- Well designed, engineered, and manufactured. This must be the third or fourth generation of this product, as the kinks have been worked out.- The rubber-clad, slip-resistant treads are large and much more comfortable to stand on than typical step-ladders. More like standing on a stair step than a ladder.- This ladder is quite stable; no wobble, creaking, or feeling that the ladder might fall forward or to the side.- Strong. I'm 6' 4" and 270 lbs., and this poses no problems with this ladder. Ladder is rated for 300 lbs.- Safety. With other short step-ladders, the frame of the ladder is to the side of the steps. This is fine for strength, but if you lose your balance and have to jump off the ladder to the side, that very frame can trip you, resulting in a nasty fall. The Little Giant's frame is [mostly] under the steps, so there's little likelihood of being tripped if you jump off to the side.- Versatile platform. While standing on any tread, you can work to either side, to the front, or even safely turn around and face the rear.- Folds and unfolds easily and quickly.- You would typically want to unfold the safety-bar handle and snap it in the upright position. However, you can leave the handle in the down position, and use the device as a staircase to walk straight onto a truck, camper, trailer, temporary construction platform, stage, etc.- The integrated work tray on top of the handle holds paint brushes, tools, etc., and has two hooks for hanging paint cans or buckets.- Reasonably light to carry around: 20 lbs.- Rolls around (on smooth floors only) with the built-in wheels while opened up. (If it's folded, you have to carry it.)- We bought ours from Wing at a Home Improvement show. It arrived on-time and undamaged via UPS. (Wing is a family owned company in Utah, so their products are "made in the USA".)Cons:- The most expensive step ladder of this height on the market.- The built-in wheels could have been a little larger for better rolling on uneven surfaces.- Heavier and bulkier than other step-ladders of this height (but of course, these attributes provide much better stability, safety, and comfort).- Other Wing ladders carry a life-time warranty. Makes you wonder why this one has a one-year warranty.Other:- Storage requirements when folded: ladder height is 44" and width is 4.7"Summary:The 4-star rating is due to the Cons listed above.
The Little Jumbo is is a very stable, well engineered product. I feel very safe climbing up and down the rubber clad steps. I purchased the three step model to use with my truck camper. I leave the "rail" in the down position and the height of the three step model works perfectly with the height of the camper door sill, which is about six to eight inches higher than the top step of the Little Jumbo. It also folds flat(4-3/4")for storage. Yeah, it seems a little pricey for a step system, but it's well worth it.
Don't be put off by those "as seen on late-nite TV" promos. This Little Giant product is very well designed, of industrial quality, and rock-solid stable. Bought it to load sports equipment and other gear onto the roof of my SUV, but will be using it as the ladder of choice for interior home projects as well. The deployable bar adds a measure of security and cleverly carries a tool holder and parts tray as well. In short, solid gear and well worth the price.
I just got this ladder yeasterday and love it. It is very hard for me to use step stools or ladders. being 5' I need it!!! I am loosing but at this time am 280 lb's and it supports me fine. It came by ups and no problems. It is easy, for it's size...being the 4 step, to set up. Only thing that would help me more is if it had hand rails to use. the nice large steps helped to make sure I had shure footing. and the angle of the steps made it easy. Tho for me it would be nice if it had less space between steps, meaning for me a 4 step would be an 8 step. I do nothave a good strech with my legs and they are very short, going backwards down a ladder if the step is not right under my foot as soon as I take it off the step, I have a bit of a problem and with this, as with any ladder, I have to step down , streaching, to get to the next step. (they need to make them for shore people. :) ).But I have had no problems with the ladder. Even put new lights in my cealing fan. (about 8 ft above me or more.) So for me, this is a great ladder.Kathy
