I am a fire extinguisher technician and don't be fooled by this product. Yes, it did get its proper UL testing and should work as is. But bring it in for recharge and no recharge company likes these First Alert. First of all, you cannot get individual parts. We check with First Alert, after some waiting and pushing around from one person to another and the only thing they could sell us is the whole valve assembly. Go to a recharge company and buy a quality extinguisher.

Hopefully we will never have to use this, but it is a great product to have. It is a little bit larger than I thought, but it fits perfectly under our kitchen sink. I had a fire from the broiler a couple of months back and decided that I need to keep a fire extinguisher on hand. I looked at the reviews of others that were really small and only a one-time use. This one said that if it is ever used, it can be refilled. We shall see...

This is one of these things you hope you don't ever need, but this one is made from metal and can be recharged again. Not like the cheap plastic ones that you have to throw away.

Hard to give something a 5 star review when I haven't and hopefully won't use it, but the build quality on this is very good, and the ability to take it in and refill it is a big bonus (I think fire departments will let you come in and practice, then refill). The unit comes with an appropriately sturdy mounting bracket to keep it up off the floor. You gotta have one of these, and if you are going to have one, it might as well be reliable and good quality.

This First Alert fire extinguisher is twice as large and contains twice as much fire fighting chemical as the other First Alert model advertised on Amazon. Since they are about the same price, the larger model is a much better deal. It should be noted that the total weight of this extinguisher is about 12 pounds. Therefore, if a person is frail and cannot lift this much weight, they may be better off with the smaller model.
