Fast shipping, and neatly packed in box. Works fine including the sticky tape. Clean area with alcohol as directed. It works as advertised, and we are happy with it. Something to give us a piece of mind in the event someone breaks in our home at night, and we'll have time to get to safe and grab my firearm. if I'm not it calls me with the recorded message I made. With no monthly fee this will pay for itself in less than a year! Its very loud. The siren cord could be longer, but that is minor. My friend alarm talks when someone enters, I prefer the chirp chirp the AAS makes. For the price you pay and the price you will save. Its perfect. I compared it to many other companies this has the best reviews with more for your money. My jr high son had his friends over, I had one of them go and open the front door and LOL they all jumped..update - 5 months later still working. The stock batteries all died. They are very cheap. The red light will stay lit until dead, plus alarm will not chime when opened. My advice is to go and buy batteries and switch out first. Sticky held up on all but one. My motion I just used velcro I bought and they both didn't hold up until I used a second Velcro. When I buy a house I screw them into the wall. I am in a rental, do not wan too many holes to patch over. Otherwise still works great, and have no regrets. I will a key pad for my garage so my kids can come into the house through garage and set unset it instead of calling the alarm.
We installed this system 6 months ago after a garage break-in on our property. The only problems we have had were initially when some family members didn't know how to disarm the alarm when they entered and had a key to our garage. (not really a system problem...more like human error) Our house and garage are more than 125 feet a part, but we are able to have both buildings and the required doors and windows on the same system. The main keypad lets you see where you have entry. Each unit requires a set-up to the system where it is given a number; it was do-able and not too difficult.We wanted to know if someone was entering our home/garage so we could take action. This meets our needs and continues to work for us. We have just figured out we had placed one door sensor too far from it's companion piece (it's a 2 piece unit per door or window). It was working extra hard to make the contact and drained the battery. We were alerted to this by the unit itself (no double beep when the door was opened). We are moving those pieces closer together and replacing the batteries (which needs to be done to the units about once a year).We were specifically looking for a set-up that did not require a monthly monitoring fee. We are not in a high crime area. This works for us along with some motion lighting we have installed.
I purchased this system about 1 month ago. We had considered ADT's monitored alarm system, but $99 buys you sensors for 2 doors, 1 window, and a motion detector, plus $35 per month. The AAS system gives you sensors for 15 doors and/or windows plus 4 motion detectors! I plan on adding a couple of components (more on that later) which will add about another $100, bringing our total first year's cost to $370, including shipping, and then it is free!!! No monthly bills! For comparison ADT's first year will cost about $520 for a MUCH smaller system, and will continue to cost $35 every month, or $420 every year. In comparison this is a huge bargain!There have been mixed reviews on the instructions and documentation that comes with this product. I found that the set-up instructions were very clear and detailed, but it would have been nice to have a trouble-shooting section. I also would have appreciated more details on each component. The instructions said to turn the power on before activating the motion detector, but I couldn't find a power switch! My husband was the one that figured out to remove the cover and plug a wire in, but I would never have ever figured that one out on my own. There is a number to call for help. You get to talk to a real person without being on hold for a lengthy time, and she was very patient, knowledgeable and helpful. One of my components arrived broken, and it was replaced quickly.Like another reviewer, a couple of my sensors came "un-stuck" and set off the alarm. My solution was to replace the double-sticky foam tape with the command performance velcro type tape. I also cleaned the surface with rubbing alcohol before changing the tape out. I probably wouldn't have had a problem if I had done that in the first place. The velcro tape will make it easier when it is time to replace a battery.The indoor alarm is ear piercing loud, but it really isn't very loud from outside the house, so I am going to order an outdoor alarm as well. We have a 70 lb. dog and a 25 lb. dog that we leave in our living room when we are gone. The Pet Immune Motion detector isn't supposed to be set off by a pet under 130 lbs., but after a couple of weeks they did manage to set off the alarm. Maybe both of them together? Anyway, I just use the "home" mode when we leave the dogs out, and the "away" mode when they are crated, and that works out for us.My only real issue with this system, and my reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is the dialing function. It can be set up to call pre-programmed numbers in case the alarm is triggered. It works, but not without interfering with my answering system. Since I work from home, I really need to have full functionality from my answering machine, so I am unable to use that. Bummer!Now it is possible to just unplug the indoor alarm from the keypad (another reason to add an outdoor alarm) or to damage the main keypad to the point where the system will no longer work, so it is recommended that you put it outside of plain view, such as in a closet. I am going to order a second keypad that will allow me to set and turn off the alarm from a convenient location, but won't affect the alarm system if a burglar damages it. Note, the main keypad does have a battery back-up, so turning off the power won't keep it from doing its job! If you don't want to invest in a second keypad, you could just use the key fobs to turn the system on & off, you just won't be able to see which sensor was set off if the alarm is triggered.All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase!
This was exactly what I was hoping to find! A wireless security system without the monthly monitoring fee. All parts worked upon arrival. The price was GREAT! Installation easy. Instructions were straight forward- I didn't bother with the pet immune stuff. I am making myself a short list of the most commonly used codes -- the book has all the codes but I would like a more condensed version. I haven't used the phone call feature yet. This product is GREAT!
I'll start off by saying I install bank alarms for a living and have pretty high standards for alarms. All I had to go on was reviews left others with little to no experience with high quality alarms so I was skeptical. The alarm showed up very quickly and installation was a breeze! I had this thing humming in just over an hour. I have had the system in since Nov 2010 and has worked perfectly with no false alarms. I love the remotes and keep one on the night stand and the other in the car. It's very cool to pull up the the house and disarm the system sitting in my car. I can hear the siren chirp while outside so I know it's ok to enter. I set up the dial option and it works perfectly! Even with my dealer discount I'd would have paid close to $2000 for a system with all the features this unit offers. To boot the customer service is outstanding!Have to say you can't go wrong with these systems for a residential alarm application.Thanks AAS.INC !!!!
First, I owe other reviewers for install tips. Thanks, these helped a great deal.Installed in less than 4 hours (I am a former construction guy and all around handy man) loved the suggestion to sue Velcro instead of two sided tape in order to be able to change batteries if needed. All sensors worked and activated easily. Hardest part of install was the programming of the system. be sure you exit after activating sensors, or creating user codes. This requires allot of button pushing and patience. The next hardest part as getting the zones correct. Don't try to use zones 01-10 for entry points, these are emergency sensors that will activate alarm no matter what. This took about 5 attempts of setting off the system before I figured it out. I did order separately and outdoor siren. The placement of this required running and extension cord as the device I purchased needed constant power.I have not yet installed motion sensors but will eventually, and create the at home zones. My main objective was to ensure entry points would set off the alarm. Mission accomplished. I am looking at adding a GSM dial out box and we do not have a land line. Has anyone else done this? Input would be appreciated.The system has worked as expected, no more, no less. Well described and depicted. I have 2 story 2000 sq ft house and didn't have any trouble with signal strength for sensors. <--- that was my biggest concern prior to purchase. Installed 1.5 weeks ago and the only false alarm was me putting the cat out after setting the alarm. I hope he comes back. :-) Joking, he came back rather quickly.
I was looking for an alarm system which would alert us to any intrusions while we are at our summer residence in a remote setting. This system will awaken us from sleep should any door or window be opened. Just what we wanted! (It also can be set for the siren to go off when the premises are vacant.) We now sleep securely.Several phone calls to the help desk were necessary for installation. Others report an easy set up, but a friend and I followed the manual, only to discover what seemed to be contradictory instructions, and the approach we chose did not work. The help desk is quite busy, but the woman who answered was friendly and patient and eventually guided me to success with the installation.The control pad and sensors do not give the impression of being sturdy and of high quality, but they do work!I did not want to pay a monitoring fee because distance issues would make monitoring ineffective. However the system does have provision for calling multiple phone numbers if the control panel is triggered.
