The Biggest Bed in the World Reviews

  1. the artwork is great, the story is sweet, it is an all around great book for the co-sleepers of the world

  2. I bought a bunch of books that had AP themes and this one is by far my favorite. It is just wonderful. Has the co-sleeping and how it is great for the whole family as well as breastfeeding shown as normal. If you are an AP parent you have to have this book. Warning...it is to funny for bedtime.

  3. This is the cutest book I've read in a long time, and my daughter loves it. Its the story of a Co-Sleeping family and the daddy's quest for more room to sleep. He builds the biggest bed in the world, and when that doesn't work out, he builds individual beds for all of the children in another room - only to find out he can't sleep without them because he's lonely! This book captures the joys and tribulations of co-sleeping families perfectly. We all sometimes wake up with a foot in our face and think "why are we doing this?" - but waking up all snuggled up with our children is one of life's sweetest moments. This book captures it in a funny, delightful, and heartwarming way!

  4. I bought this book because I knew it was family bed-friendly. But I have an 8 year old step-daughter who comes every other weekend who does not sleep with us and she absolutely loves this book also! Kids seem to really get a kick out of the repeating line, How am I supposed to sleep like this?! Like other reviewers, I love the realism-there are nights where you don't love the crowded bed, but you still wouldn't trade it for another arrangement!

  5. This book is adorable and fun to read. Dad just can't make up his mind, as more babies are added to the family it is becoming more difficult for him to sleep - he builds the bed bigger and bigger and bigger. The results of having the biggest bed in the world are amusing. Then Dad is hard at work again, bunking the kids in another room only to find it difficult to sleep without them. This is a fun 'snuggly' book full of beautiful illustrations.

  6. This is a "must have" for any family that shares afamily bed. When I read it to my children, 4 and 2, they laughed atthe pictures and I filled with tears at how wonderfully the author captures my feelings of frustration at times to share my bed but also knowing that like the dad, I would not be able to sleep without them in bed with me. The second time we read the book we talked about our own experiences with the family bed and how we had to add to our bedsize. My four year old thought until reading this book that we had the biggest bed in the world. He is now interested in tearing down a few walls so we can make our bed larger also. END

  7. I stumbled upon this book in the library yesterday and immediately came online to order copies for all my friends. This book provides a fun (and truthful) look at co-sleeping families. As children are added to the family (and the bed), dad decides that to get some sleep he must get a bigger bed. At some point he becomes frustrated with the arrangement and puts the children in their own beds only to discover that he misses them and can't sleep without them. Families who practice this form of parenting will love seeing it in print. As a co-sleeping parent, I easily relate to the dad in this book. I agree that sometimes this sleeping arrangement is frustrating, but those times never outweigh the warmth and closeness that we share with our children during sleep. I'm so grateful there's a book that portrays that, and thrilled to see breastfeeding represented in the illustrations, as well. Note to Amazon: link this book to all the William Sears' and La Leche books, not to mention Tine Thevenin's The Family Bed and you'd sell lots!
