Beckett 7115010 Waterfall Pump 5000gph Reviews
I LOVED IT - the amount of water it passed through our large fountain in the backyard was just perfect. It's been running 24/7 since we got it around the 10th of July 2011.It's now the end of August and it stopped working. I looked to see what the problem was and the outside of the case. (the screen intake area) busted off. There wasn't any reason for this, wasn't dropped or abused... and I looked closer and the impeller/propeller that moves the water was busted as well. It appears that the impeller broke or in same way came off and broke through the intake area of the case.Luckily - I think it's 1 year warranty... but still a hassle to ship it in or wait for parts. Seems it should last longer then 6-7 weeks before breaking. ELSE good price and worked well until.Though I'd rather have paid 50-80 bucks more and have it be better made. The parts that broke appear to be a rather cheezy plastic.Loved it while it worked.
I bought this to replace our old waterfall pump in our goldfish pond. We were using a sump pump from the local hardware store. Wow, what a difference this thing is! It pumps out huge amounts of water. I think our goldfish have lost about 3 lbs apiece just trying to stay upstream, lol.Pros:Pumps a LOT of water. Great pressure if you're emptying the pond for cleaning.Quiet operation. Very long cord (see desc).Cons:No way to hook on a hose for the inlet. Kinda tall when sitting upright.About the cons: Our pond is only about 2 ft deep so when the water level gets low the top of the pump sticks out. It's about a foot tall when you sit it upright. It's larger than our sump pump we were using before (only lasted 2 years, but wasn't rated for continuous usage) so we have to keep an eye on the water level if we want to keep it looking nice. Also, it would be a HUGE improvement if there was a way to hook up a hose to the inlet to move water when you're emptying the pond or trying to hide the pump.Other than that, it's a great little powerhouse.
I have a moderate sized pond, perhaps 4000 gallons. I created a waterfall for it that requires the pump lift the water about 7 feet. This pump has worked extremely well in this installation. We live in Colorado, so the pond does have moderately extreme weather from summer through winter. The pump runs year round, of course.I just had to replace the pump a couple days ago... I had a back-up already purchased, and since the two pumps are the same model, it was easy to replace the pump... just unscrew it from the hose fitting and attach the new pump back onto the hose (no tools, but for the waders to get to the pump). The pump lasted seven year. I think that is a very good length of time.I told my next door neighbor about the pump and he installed one in his pond, probably a 5000 gallon pond, and his lift is about 8 feet. His pump works great and it is still functioning three years later. The reason I thought to writing this review is that I am back on Amazon.com buying my next backup pump (the same model, of course), a pump that I don't expect to need to use for many years... but it is there when I need it (everyone with a pond and fish needs to have a backup pump and secondary aeration system in case of failure of the primary, in this case a waterfall, oxygenation system). The cost and reliability make this pump a great purchase.
This pump is great, very powerful for the price, but don't make the dumb mistake I did. It only has an outgoing hose attachment. I had to epoxy something on the intake so I could hook it up to my koi pond filter hose. Exceptional as a fountain pump which is what it claims to be.
Bought this pump in May 2011. Hooked it up for my fountain, who's previous pump worked for 12 years. This one lasted all of about 6 months. Of course, it was running 3 hours a day!Junk. Less than junk. Worthless. Less than worthless. $175.00 + labor WORTHLESS
After looking at a lot of pumps from various sites we found just what we needed and the price was super. This is now running a large three level pond with waterfalls. Can't beat the pump performance or the price.
